An Experience shared by Wanjohn D-Mecho (@wanjohn1) on X.
A client reached out to us since July this year from PortHarcourt but we weren’t available to take in more jobs as we had lots of pending jobs and deliveries to meet up with.
He said he was willing to wait as he had seen our jobs on X and he would like us to refurbish his car, we were able to fix an appointment for September this year and our driver went to PortHarcourt to pick up, the car arrived @DMautosolutions @InsideOsogbo safely. the assignment given to us was simple and concise, make the car look as brand new as possible again. We got to work.
We started with the Mechanical works, they were quite challenging but we gave it our best shot, we replaced the steering column kits, complete driving shafts, spark plugs and Nozzles, we were able to prevent a potential knocking problem by discovering a weak hose which wasn’t visible enough from the engine, we had it replaced, then we detached the entire interior upholstery seats for replacements with factory fitted leather.
While troubleshooting the faults of the Air Conditioning system which really took a lot of our time, we were able to trace the fault to a panel in the car, the part was quite scarce but we stopped at nothing to get it. We were keeping in constant touch with our client because we do not joke with the trust they have in us, we do not like to compromise on our integrity at all. He gave us a go ahead to get all we needed to make the car perfect.
After the Mechanical works/faults were satisfactorily done/rectified, we proceeded to the Panel beating works, body works and preparations for Oven baking, it wasn’t an easy task but we love to take up on interesting challenges, there were so many errors on the chassis of the car due to the previous jobs carried out on it, we had to correct it from the scratch, we were making progress. This is the point during oven baking preparations where we can’t afford to do any lazy job or compromise on the quality of materials.
We got brand new tyres and replaced all the four tyres and made sure there was provision for a spare tyre, @DMautosolutions , we always do as we say and don’t joke with genuine and quality parts, this is why we love to make our clients feel very comfortable with us irrespective of the proximity measures, you will feel like you’re in the workshop with us, we are very plain, open and transparent and we deliver quality services on cars.
The Oven Baking proper went well and we were sure there weren’t going to be any reactions or complications on the chassis, this is why we do not like to go for substandard materials, for us @DMautosolutions located @InsideOsogbo , we understand there could be short cuts and that there are people who can actually do it for way cheaper, but we would rather decline a job than use substandard products that wouldn’t last more than few months just to make profit, it’s either quality jobs and services on any car or we don’t accept that job at all. Any car we work on is a representation of our brand anywhere it is delivered to, our integrity matters a lot to us and this is why we hardly get return jobs.
After baking, we discovered some very challenging electrical malfunctions in the car just as we were about to start coupling the car, all the speakers were bad, the wiring works connected to the headlamps, switched and fuses weren’t working at all, we had to dismantle everything, retrace, refit and refix. Now, all these weren’t part of the initial estimates we had given our client but the fact that we discovered the faults, we weren’t going to leave them like that, we updated our client and he gave us a go ahead and said he would settle any extra expenses.
We were able to rectify all electrical faults and few days before delivery, during the test driving phase, we discovered the fuel pump was bad, malfunctioning, we placed order for a brand new fuel pump and replaced it, we replaced the battery with another one too because we saw signs the old battery was getting weak, we just wanted to deliver the car to our client in such a way he wouldn’t have to bother about anything with repairs for at least 2 years except for the normal changing of oil and necessary maintenance routines.
The car was almost ready for delivery and just as we love to do, we filled up the tank of the car, PortHarcourt is quite a distance… You can see how the new seats look in the interior in the video ahead, shortly after filling the tank, we discovered the door chromes needed to be replaced so we replaced them, we don’t like to leave any stone unturned.
We also fixed and installed a new android system in the car. We also delivered the car with a fully packed hamper from @dunmadefoods9ja. We love to show appreciation to our clients, it is not easy to trust someone you don’t know or haven’t met physically with your car and money. We do not take this love and trust for granted.
We delivered safely to PortHarcourt from @InsideOsogbo. The only challenge we had on our way back was the Customs officers who kept asking our driver to produce the customs documents of the car, we explained it was an old car and we just refurbished it, it took a while to convince them with the car documents that the car was at least 6-7 years old in Nigeria.
It was a smooth drive and we’re grateful to our client for giving us the chance to bring his car back to life, a very big thank you to the @DMautosolutions team too, we did this.
We actually wanted to reprint the number plates but time was against us already, we delivered the car last week and our client said he was going to do it by himself, it was going to take another 2 weeks to get it sorted, it didn’t cross our mind to start the processing early enough.
We admit we’re not perfect and still have lots to learn, we appreciate your patience, corrections and criticisms, we will keep striving to do better, thank you for believing in us.
We also got this feedback from our client and we’re excited.
